Leanne & Steve – Pencoed House wedding photography

I always know when I go to Pencoed House estate that I will get great images – it does not matter whether there is rain or full sun. Its a great venue and I feel really lucky to be a recommended photographer with them. I always think that my Pencoed house wedding photography is very consistent and shows off the venue and the wedding well. It also helps that the couples who book there seem to have such a great time that it works in the photographs.

This wedding is from March when Leanne and Steve tied the knot with a ceremony, reception and evening event all taking place in the old hall. I had not met Leanne and Steve before the day as we had spoken on Skype and then we never managed to meet up properly. Things do get busy and to add to the mix they had a baby. Who is super cute and Steve seemed to be as besotted by her as I am with my girls. So we bonded well.

The whole day was spent at Pencoed house so I arrived to do bridal preperation photos at the cottage. This was great as I had not photographed there for such a long time and there are a number of nice shots to be had if you know where to look. It also means that I could wander between them both getting the shots I needed and being around for the right moments. This may be to get formal photos or capturing the dress going on – but moments I need to make a story of the day.

Leanne and Steve had been together for 3 years and got engaged on Christmas day 2016 after Christmas dinner. They did not hang around to get married and both looked so happy on the day. Leanne was wearing a dress from Wed2B and flowers from Bella B design. Steve and his men had suits from Oxford House in Pontycymmer and must have taken a few trips as he is based near Portsmouth and he had 10 men (and boys) in suits.

The ceremony (and day in general) was full of laughter although started out with some tears form the groom as he held his daughter and saw the other the other girl in his life coming down the aisle. It was a lovely moment and, as some who cried at the same point on my wedding day, I loved to see it and photograph it. I think that was the last of the tears and from that point on it was all laughter and even a small amount of rain could not dampen the day. It just meant that we did an informal meet and greet under one of Pencoed house’s big umbrellas. Due to the weather the grounds were very soggy so group shots took place in front of the venue and then the bride and groom donned wellies and we did a 20 minute jaunt around the grounds before finishing at the Hall for Leanne and Steve to see the room finished. It looked lovely (in fairness it always does) and they had a gorgeous cake made by Mad about Cakes in Bridgend.

Once the evening arrived and the excellent food from Cresta Caterers and rather good speeches  had finished I thought that the guests were ready to burst onto the dance floor and after Leanne and Steve’s first dance (from Paul Coles DJ) they did … it was manic with firstly an overfull dance floor then ALL the stag party got on the floor and promptly got shirtless … it was quite something …. they also almost managed to bring down the fairy lights but thankfully I was on hand to climb (really safely) onto something to put them back in place. Phew!

So that was that. I really enjoyed it and had a lovely message from Leanne when she got the photos back which you can see here. Thank you guys and looking forward to my next weddings at Pencoed House at the end of this month.
