I took this photo at Ellie and Andrew’s Brooks Country house wedding near Ross on Wye. It was pretty much the last shot of the evening … it was only because it started raining as we chatted and said ‘goodbye’ that they picked up the umbrella and I picked up the camera again and got them to pose for this. It was the end of a lovely day with these two and their friends and one of my favourite weddings of the summer. I had been doing a set of photos after all the dancing -an amazing band called Bass 12 – who had got everyone up on theiur feet! I had my off camera flash kit set up and done some using trees in the area and then some against the sky. Then rain came and I took this!
I do not have a massive Instagram following so when this photo got lots of likes and loads of comments I was slightly taken aback. The comments on the post were all really lovely and the feedback was immense. This photo may not be representative of a Brook Country House wedding but I can absolutely extoll its virtues as a great place to get married. This sort of photo can be taken anywhere where there is lots of sky and the post editing helped.
The photo had a simple set up with the flash guns on stands behind the couple and they were wirelessly triggered from my camera – a Sony A7iii and I took a series of photos with this being my favourite. The photo was edited in Lightroom using a newly designed preste that worked really well for this wedding. It seems to work best on overcast days and in places where there is natural light coming through windows.
I hope you like this photo as much as myself and the couple do! Want to meet up, have a coffee and chat? Then please get in touch here.
