Miskin Manor Wedding – Hannah and Rob

It is very rare that you see wedding blogs that celebrate what a wedding can look like if it rains – but today I thought I would show a Miskin Manor wedding from last September. It was an awful day outside but inside the smiles and fun meant that Hannah and Rob did not care one jot! I know I bang on about people laughing and smiling at weddings but it does make a massive difference to the feel of the day and, ultimately, the photos.

On this day we were not able to get out of the hotel to take photos until 7pm and even then we needed an umbrella and a groomsman to help carry umbrellas. I have never been in the position where I have not managed to get outside and do some couple shots at a wedding. This was close but thankfully Hannah and Rob were up for getting out and having some shots taken. The worst part of the day for me was that I had hired a car (as I sometimes do if Emma needs ours) and as it was local I went for the smallest and cheapest available. It turned out that they gave me a Fiat 500 (which after driving I have decided against ever owning) but the main downside was that the boot is small and my kit was very snug in there. This also meant that I spend more time trying to extricate my kit from the boot with inadequate rain cover from the boot door. I know this will make you weep as you read but these are real 21st century problems in Wales!

Anyway, the day was great fun and they both looked gorgeous with Hannah having an Audrey Hepburn vibe going on and looking stunning throughout the day. It was so easy to photograph her and the photographs came out beautifully everytime she was on screen. I managed some getting ready photos but as she was ready super early I missed some but that did mean I got loads of photos of Hannah and her Bridesmaids and then plenty of individual photos too. The ones of Hannah on her own I absolutely love and the room at Miskin manor allowed some space for some very simple and elegant photographs before the ceremony. My assistant captured the boys in one of the rooms adjoining the bar and they are great as the light in those rooms is so good for photography. They scrubbed up OK too!

The day went well and after speeches, we ventured out and managed some natural light shots as well as some with my lights. It gave a great mix of styles in a short period and despite the weather, Hannah really loved it and did not feel the cold!! It really was a blast getting outside and capturing those shots and so worth it for their photographic narrative of the day. We did not spend long and wrapped it up quickly so that the couple could first dance and let their guests start the evening party.

Thanks Hannah and Rob for making a tough situation such a breeze and for being such good company. Enjoy the photos and let em know what you think.
